The last of 2020

This year's final update is a new page about the St. Gertrudis in Maasbracht, Limburg. A church which, the Romanesque tower aside, was designed by A.J.N. Boosten, a highly original architect who mostly worked in LimburgThis page is part of a theme. As on January the 2nd it will be 70 years since this architect's untimely death I thought it was a good occassion to give some of the pages about his churches an overhaul and pay some extra attention to some pages I updated recently

Many pictures were improved, many others were added while texts were rewritten. In the case of one page, about the St. Gemma in Sittard, I replaced all the pictures with even older ones which, using Photoshop, proved to be quite good.

The other improved pages are:

In the next update I will be looking back at 2020.

Friesland Photoshopped

More pages have been given a Photoshop make-over, all about neo-Gothic churces in the province of Friesland.

Incidentally, the first three of these were designed by P.J.H. Cuypers.

More Photoshop

Today I present a series of pages which had their pictures replaced, and often added a few extra, by versions made using the Camera RAW-filter in Photoshop. In most cases I think they're better, but I'm still mastering the technique.

These are the pages:

Before and after

Some newly acquired Photoshop skills allow me to add more colour and atmosphere to my pictures. And although I will refrain from improving and replacing all older pictures, I do intend to improve many older pages that could use a bit more colour. So that's what I'll be doing for a while. Here are the first two of these pages, and both have improved text as well. First there's the reformed church of Ijsselmuiden in Overijssel, as illustrated above. The other, as seen below, is the St. Lambertus in Alphen aan de Maas, Gelderland.

Some new Zuid-Holland pages

A brand new page about the four churches in the Pijnacker-Nootdorp municipality. The old page about the catholic church St. Bartholomeüs in Nootdorp has many new pictures as well as some better versions of older pictures while the text has been rewritten.

And that's not all, because there are also new pages about the other three churches: the reformed churches of Nootdorp and Pijnacker and the catholic H. Joannes de Dooper in Pijnacker.

As promised, here are a few more pages for the Zuid-Holland section. There's a small page about the churches in the city of Zoetermeer (old part of town only, four churches) and there are seperate pages about two of these, the reformed church (picture) and the catholic St. Nicolaas.

Some more Gelderland

Due to a merger last year, the pages about municipalities Geldermalsen, Lingewaal and Neerijnen are replaced by the new page West Betuwe. Several pages about specific churches in this municipality have slightly better text, while there's also a brand new page about the reformed church of Enspijk.

Noord-Brabant updates

Today's update concerns a few changes I made some time ago but had not yet mentioned here. First, the page about 's-Hertogenbosch' St. Jan Cathedral has undergone the now usual treatment of bigger pictures as well as some Photoshop compositions resulting in views that would be impossible to capture otherwise, at least for me. Second is the page about the St. Willibrordus in Alphen, which has most of its pictures replaced.
The third update today is a new page about the St. Johannes in Moergestel

Friesland updates

The old (ca. 2006) pages about two churches in the city of Leeuwarden have new pictures. First, the page about the Grote of Jacobijnerkerk has had almost all of its pictures replaced by much, much better ones such as the one above this message; sunnier, more colourful and more general views, while the other page, about the Koepelkerk, has a few new 'big' pictures such as the one on the right which is composed out of three diferent photo's.

More Utrecht updates

Two more pages are enhanced with a combination of new, old and improved and very much Photoshopped pictures, both about churches in the city of Utrecht. One about the ancient Nicolaikerk, now finally showing its long inaccessible south side, and the much more recent St. Gerardus Majella

Utrecht updates

Some updates to older pages in the province of  Utrecht section. The page about the town of Oudewater has all new pictures plus one church added and is now about the eponymous municipality. The page about the reformed church or St. Michael (above)in Oudewater has several new pictures as well as some bigger and/or better versions of older pictures.

Much the same goes for the two big churches of Ijsselstein, the reformed church and the St. Nicolaas (right).

New Gelderland pages

It's yet another Monday update. Three new pages were added to the Gelderland section, a small (yet practically complete) page with five churches in the town of Doesburg and seperate pages for two of these, the Grote- or Martinikerk (picture) and the Gasthuiskerk

Zutphen updated

With another Monday update, the third in succession, it might look as if weekly updates are back. That is not necessarily the case, but as long as I stick to updating older pages it's not that difficult. Here's another one, taking us back to Gelderland. The pages about the three medieval churches of the town of ZutphenThe Broederenkerk, the St. Walburgis and the St. Johannes de Doperhave all been updated with new and better pictures as well as some of my Photoshop antics like the one in this message. You may also notice an increase in the number of larger images.

Second update

Some more older pages have been improved with new pictures, this time in the Overijssel section. Three objects were added to the Deventer page and new pictures were added to the pages about that city's most important churches, the Bergkerk and the St. Lebuïnus

First update of 2020

Happy new year to all of you! The first update of the year is here and takes us back to Limburg, with a slightly revised (one new object added, one picture replaced) page about Meerssen municipality and a much improved (some much better pictures) page about the Basilica of Meerssen.
