New Noord-Brabant pages

Two new pages were added to the Noord-Brabant section, one about the town and municipality of Roosendaal and the other about the adjacent Rucphen municipality. Also the page about a church in the latter municipality, the St. Willibrordus in the village of Sint Willebrord, has had a comprehensive update to its text.

Noord-Brabant updates

The page about the Halderberge municipality is updated: two objects added, making the page almost complete. Also, there's a new page about a church in this municipality, the St. Johannes de Doper in Hoeven, a church in Expressionist style. See picture.

Architects

A new page in the architects section. Not about one specific architect this time, but about the three Oomen brothers and their successors. A family that has had quite a confusing history and spawned three generations of architects and two seperate architecture firms. Of course the page concentrates on their religious works and is illustrated with eleven pictures. Like the one above this message.

Gelderland update

The page about the Overbetuwe municipality has been expanded to the point that I consider it to be complete; pictures and descriptions of eight objects in five villages were added.

Oosterhout update

In the Noord-Brabant section there's been an update of the page about Oosterhout municipality. One object added, two pictures replaced and some textual changes.

Dongen update

Another very old page was finally updated, translated and expanded; the page about Dongen, Noord-Brabant is now about the municipality instead of the town only. Five pictures added and one demolished church removed. Which might be a mistake, but for now I'm really not sure what to do with these cases.

In het Nederlands: de pagina over Dongen in Noord-Brabant is nu tweetalig en betreft nu de gehele gelijknamige gemeente.

Nijmegen updated

A long overdue update for the page about Nijmegen, Gelderland. Several pictures of post-war objects were added, and several improvements were made to the text. The pages about two objects in this city were also updated; the St. Nicolaas chapel (formerly under a different name) and St. Steven's church (see picture). Both were improved with some new pictures but especially with better text.

Some more Zuid-Holland updates

The pages about the towns Gorinchem and Leerdam are now about the eponymous municipalities, with several village churches added. Also some older pictures have been replaced by better ones. The page about another municipality in the same region, Giessenlanden, also had two important objects added.

Zuid-Holland again

Two new pages in the Zuid-Holland section; one about the churches of Wassenaar and one about its major church, the Reformed church. Which has to be one of the most interesting churches in that province.

Zuid-Holland, two churches

Following the page about Voorschoten published two weeks ago are two new pages about the most important churches of that village, the reformed Dorpskerk (left picture) and the catholic St. Laurentius (right). Both are from the 1860's and are in early neo-Gothic style, and the latter is the first complete church by architect Th. Asseler.

Zuid-Holland new page

There's a new page in the Zuid-Holland section about the village of Voorschoten.

Geldrop once more, and more

Following the previous update about Geldrop-Mierlo, almost a month ago already,  I decided the old page about the St. Brigida in Geldrop could use a makeover. Better info with more historical details and a few new pictures.
Also, the page about the architect of this church, C. Weber, is improved; an expanded biography and a more complete and chronologic list of works.

Noord-Brabant updates

New is a page about the churches in the Geldrop-Mierlo municipality, as well as a page about one of its churches, the St. Jozef in Geldrop. See picture.

Also, the page about the St. Willibrordus in Berkel-Enschot is updated with new and improved pictures, as well as better text.

Architects updated

One new pictures was added to each of the following architect's pages: N. Molenaar Sr., Th. Asseler and E.J. Margry and associates. The latter page is also improved in several more ways: more accurate lists of works, and more biographical information.

Noord-Holland, new church

A new church in the Noord-Holland section, about the St. Jacobus in Tuitjenhorn, a neo-Gothic creation by architect Th. Molkenboer, the page about whom is also, once again, expanded.

Noord-Holland updates

When I announced a few months ago that all the pictorial indexes were completely renewed, I obviously had forgotten about the two pages for Noord-Holland. That has been corrected now.

In the same province is a new page about Ouder Amstel municipality, mostly an updated version of the page about Ouderkerk aan de Amstel.

Architects updated

The pages about architects Th. Molkenboer and A.C. Bleijs have both been given a much needed major overhaul, resulting in much more complete biographies and lists of works.

Another architect

Another page about a 19th-century catholic architect: Th. Asseler (1823-1879) with a short biography, a long list of his religious works and a few pictures. Like this one.

Two more architects

New pages about two more architects; J.H. Tonnaer and P.J. Soffers, both architects of catholic churches. The page about Tonnaer has a nice basic biography and a list of his churches in the Netherlands and Belgium. Soffers is a big mystery, because despite his long list of more than 30 churches and his obvious great importance, virtually nothing is known about him. A tentative page that I hope to expand to a higher level some day.

First updates of 2017

Happy new year! And what a nice start of the year I have for you.

Almost by tradition, the 1st of January in the Netherlands is the date when former municipalities merge into a new bigger one. This year this happened to the municipalities of Schijndel, Sint-Oedenrode and Veghel in the Noord-Brabant province. A good opportunity to transform the old Veghel page, add pictures of the churches in Sint-Oedenrode and call the new page Meierijstad. Sorry, no pictures of places in the former Schijndel municipality yet.

Also, two more pages about architects, W.Th. van Aalst and J.J.M. van Halteren
